Dr. Jibril Handuleh, has started a three year residency program in Psychiatry at St. Paul's Hospital Millenium Medical College in Addis Ababa, Ethiopia.

Dr. Jibril is a former public health and clinical psychiatry researcher based at Amoud University, Borama, Somaliland. His research interests are psychiatry services, infectious diseases epidemiology, health systems and non communicable disease control and policy in Somalia and the WHO EMRO region countries. Methods are mixed methods and literature reviews with special interest in qualitative research. His last project in public health/ infectious disease control was research on Bovine Tuberculosis prevalence and its associated risk factors among cattle and agro-pastoralists in Awdal region, Somaliland. he has published several papers and more works can be read from https://www.researchgate.net/profile/Djibril_Handuleh.

 

 

Dr. Hassan Elmi lecturer at Amoud University College of Health Sciences (ACHS)

 

In another related news, Dr. Hassan Elmi has also started a four year residency training program in Surgery through the same Ethiopian government partial scholarship. Dr Hassan Elmi is a Medical Doctor at Borama Regional Hospital and Lecturer of Amoud University School of Medicine. In addition he is also a Physician at Alhayatt Amoud University Teaching and Referral Hospital.

In late December 2019, Professor Suleiman Ahmed Guleid, President, Amoud University, appointed Dr. Alexander Finlayson

as a Visiting Professor of Medicine at Amoud College of Health Sciences (ACHS). He will be affiliated with School of Medicine and Surgery at Amoud College of Health Sciences in teaching and service development areas. This came as an appreciation of his academic contributions to the training of Somaliland medical students, junior medical doctors, other faculty and other cadres of health workers through the innovative digital capacity building programme, MedicineAfrica. He has played a part in developing innovations through the King’s THET Somaliland Partnership KTSP which was part of strengthening the healthcare workforce in Somaliland. Now called Kings’ in Somaliland, through SPHEIR project which is UKAID funded grant training medical teachers in Somaliland, the platform remains vital in the delivery of the collaboration.

Alexander is now the co-founder and CEO of a digital health company called Nye. Alexander also has a role in Medical Education at Oxford University as a Doll Fellow (Director of Graduate Entry Medical Studies) at Green Templeton College in Oxford University http://www.gtc.ox.ac.uk/, works a part-time General Practitioner in Oxford

 

Alexander was previously Head of Research, King's Centre for Global Health; a Kennedy Scholar at Harvard in Systems Biology; an ACF in both Cancer Medicine and General Practice at Oxford; was awarded BMJ Junior Doctor of the Year in 2012 for the work on MedicineAfrica and was an advisor to Global health APPG in House of Lords for on digital health.

Amoud University Held a Training OF In-service Training (IST) for MCHs Healthcare workers from Hargeisa, Gebiley and Borama during two weeks.
 
HOPE ORG is supporting implementation of HIIL HOOYO project in Somaliland with the support of Amoud University School of Nursing and Midwifery and Ministry of health development Somaliland.
